First thing, we went back to Best Buy about the truck's new radio. There wasn't any troubleshooting to be done with the quirky things it was doing so they just put a new one in which is working well (so far).
We had an hour to kill before heading for lunch 30 miles up the road, so we found a nice little pet store where we got pet food. We weren't out yet and might actually have made it home without getting more but we use brands which are only found in small independent pet stores, just the type one doesn't find in tiny out-of-the-way places. And pet food is not something one wants to run out of.
I-15 from Ogden to Brigham City runs along more of the Wasatch Range with some very interesting rocky formations.
We met my cousins for lunch in Brigham City. Mary is my 4th cousin via her French Canadian LaTendresse grandmother. We have been connected by email and Facebook through our mutual genealogy interests for several years so it was wonderful to meet her and her husband in person. At age 76 Larry single-handedly runs a cattle ranch and grows hay for farmers in Tennessee. He said his hay is shipped all that way because its quality is so much better than what the Tennessee farmers can get locally.
You never know how things will go with people you've never met so I'd wondered about keeping the conversation going. There wasn't a minute of "dead air" for the two hours we were together and we didn't come close to getting everything covered. It's great when you really hit it off with people, especially when they're relatives!
The rest of the day was taken up with getting fuel and groceries. We're not going to get caught again without stuff we need like we did in Old Station. West Yellowstone's population is more than 25 times that of Old Station and they're supposed to have two grocery stores but we aren't taking any chances.
Three final sunset pictures taken at the campground this evening. This has been one of the best places we've stayed for seeing great sunsets. We will miss it.
Tomorrow we go 300 miles north to the town of West Yellowstone, Montana, which is tucked into the corner where Montana, Idaho and Wyoming come together at the western edge of Yellowstone National Park. The weather forecast gave Jim a shock....nighttime temperatures will be 29 to 34 for the next five days and daytime highs will range from 71 down to 50. I was expecting these temps but not the 20 degree drop from 70 on Sunday to 50 on Monday. We'll be finding indoor activities that day! This is why we brought our winter coats.
