9/21 - Loveland's Benson Sculpture Garden

We had a great lunch in Loveland at a diner that serves terrific breakfasts. Jim had the best biscuits and gravy he's ever eaten. It made me wish I'd ordered what he did.

Our destination for the day was the Benson Sculpture Garden which has been showcasing sculptures in Loveland since 1985.  It's recognized as one of the 20 must-see contemporary art sites across the US, and its annual Sculpture in the Park show and sale is a renowned event. There are currently 148 pieces of sculpture on permanent display, set at intervals along the paths in a lovely ten acre park.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The only pictures I have for the day are of the sculptures which caught our attention the most.  Here are just a few of them.

Spectre of Ancient Pathways

 Akacita

Great Blue Heron

Swamp Donkey (our moose for the day)

Shelter Cove

Circle of Life

 Azygos

Out of the Mystic Past

Taking Watch

Pause for Reflection

After leaving the sculpture garden we headed for Sam's Club. I should have known Jim wouldn't wait until we got back to Candler to replace the TV. We got home around 4:00 and had it working in time for the news at 5:30.  It's not installed yet because the screws from the old TV's mounting bracket weren't long enough for the new TV but it's sitting on the stand that came with it until we can get the right screws. That has to be done before we leave here because there's no way to secure it right now.  It's working great.... hasn't shot itself yet.  (We threw the old TV in the campground’s dumpster after dark.  There was no other way to get rid of it.)

We really got lucky with our timing for being in this area. The leaves are peaking right now and are expected to go down hill in another 4 or 5 days. Tomorrow will probably be the last time it hits 80 for this season, and there's a possibility of snow in Estes Park this weekend. If we'd arrived one week later we wouldn't have had such spectacular color or this great weather.

Tomorrow we're going to check out Fort Collins which is about 20 miles north of where we are.
