Wisconsin farmland
The epitome of an "All American Farm"
Irrigation booms watering a corn field
Most of these irrigation booms consist of three or four sections but some can be much larger. In other places the booms are anchored in the center of a circle which gives a very distinctive appearance when viewed on Google satellite. The ones we've seen so far in Minnesota and Wisconsin are in a straight line.
Rib Mountain and the Wisconsin River at Wausau (internet picture)
We were very surprised to find a real mountain on the edge of Wausau, right in the middle of Wisconsin. It even has a ski area. There was no way to get a picture of it as we drove by so this one taken from the internet will have to do.
Green Bay, both the city and the water
It gets confusing when talking about Green Bay with both the city and the bay having the same name.
The drive itself was not pleasant. Road construction is alive and well in Wisconsin but there's a lot more road surface that needs to be fixed. In addition to the excessively rough roads, we drove for about 250 miles without a rest area or any place we could even pull off the road for a break. We ended up taking an exit and pulling off on the opposite on-ramp right under a "DO NOT PARK ON RAMP" sign. There were knee high thistles right on the edge of the pavement so we couldn't get Lovie out. It was hard enough for us to avoid them....she couldn't have managed.
Goblin squashing Gwen
Goblin was not at all happy with the road situation. He does better under such conditions when out of his carrier but, unfortunately for Gwen, he likes lying on top of her carrier which means lying on top of HER. She never complains about it even though she's being squashed the whole time.
The campground is okay but, once again, has wifi that doesn't work. Grrrrr.
